10/8/2020: On October 6, 2020,the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued new rules regarding H-1B visas. The move comes days after a federal judge temporarily blocked an executive order issued by President Trump in June, which suspended the allotment of foreign worker visas during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the election looming, President Trump’s reasoning behind the effort professedly aims to “protect American workers and crack down on employer abuse of the H-1B visa.” However, the new regulations will make it increasingly harder for skilled foreign workers to acquire H-1B visas.
